Although dust mites are equally or in some cases more dangerous than bed bugs, the difference between bed bug bites and dust mite bites is that, quite simply, dust mites don't bite and there is no specific marking on the skin to spot them in your home.
Bed bug bites are characterized by red itchy bumps which are slightly larger than those of dust mites. While the patches or small bumps caused by dust mites on your skin are scattered, those of bed bugs are usually in a line.
House dust mites are about 0.1-0.4 mm long, less than one tenth the size of a bed bug, at least. House dust mites are translucent to white in color and have been described as "globular" in shape.
